Rovo

Rovo 2013

A contemporary amulet.
My intent was to  preserve a primitive look and to give it a sort of magic power. I took inspiration from an old romanian habit, people on the 31st december used to cut  little branches and put it in the water, branch that will bloom during the new year will bring good luck to the holder.
The necklace is made of copper and willow branches binded together to create an intricate twist that reminds a bramble.
On the surface i put an oxidizing glaze on it to remind the bloom of the branch and give it a magic touch. The idea is to keep the jewel vacuum-packed in order to preserve the copper from oxidation and let this process start as the person opens the packaging.

Copper, copper threads, willow twigs and oxidizing glaze
